Stranger Things season 4: Eleven and Hopper's secret connection exposed in clue you missed

Stranger Things fans were shocked when Jim Hopper (played by David Harbour) was apparently killed off at the end of season three.

However one eagled-eyed fan has spotted a secret connection between Hopper and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown).

Reddit user caveemaaan posted a collage of pictures across the seasons which show Eleven and Hopper’s bond was even strongly than first thought.

The photos show Hopper saved his daughter’s blue hair tie after she died and wore it as a bracelet.

Hopper then seemingly gave the hair tie to Eleven, perhaps to show her that he thought of her as a daughter.

Fans joined in on the discussion and admitted they wished Strangers Things had explained this touching detail in the show.

GregorSamsaa said: “I wish there was a way to bring attention to details like this without making it heavy handed.

“This adds so much to their relationship and would be something awesome to watch out for but having to find out about it on the interview just feels odd.

“I feel like so few people will ever see this.”

Another fan theorised the Netflix hit would air the emotional scenes in the upcoming series.

DrowsyChild explained: “I believe in the script for 2×09 there was actually a part where Hopper physically gives El the bracelet and told her it was Sarah’s.

“I agree with you and hate that they cut it.

“But maybe they’re saving the mention of it for a more powerful moment.

“Perhaps she’ll use it as a physical item to help he find him in season 4.”

Despite Stranger Things choosing not to explain the hair tie connection, Hopper star David discussed the meaning in an interview with Insider.

“It’s something subtle we do, and in fact if you watched the first [scene] of Jim Hopper in season one, he wakes up in the morning and before he even checks his watch he touches that bracelet on his arm,” David revealed.

“It’s the first thing he does every morning because he never wants to forget her.”

David goes on to explain there may be a connection between Hopper, his daughter, and Eleven as his daughter died in the same facility Eleven was raised.

“Yes there is a connection there perhaps that we may go into further down the line,” he explained.

“Again these are little things that highlight mysteries that I don’t want to give too much away from but I don’t think anything is done randomly in this show.

“So the fact that you’re picking up on these things is something that will pay off in some way.”

Stranger Things seasons 1-3 are streaming now on Netflix.
