Stranger Things’ Gaten Matarazzo can’t contain himself as he enjoys tense ice hockey game

Gaten Matarazzo may be one of the biggest TV stars after the success of Stranger Things, but he still needs time to enjoy some typical teenage fun.

And apparently that includes going wild for an ice hockey game.

The 17-year-old was spotted in a front-row seat at Madison Square Garden as the Tampa Bay Lightning took on the New York Rangers.

It seems the Dustin Henderson actor, who’s originally from New Jersey, was supporting the Rangers as they scooped up a victory 4-1.

Throwing an arm in the air, he could be seen cheering, before high-fiving a friend. He looked to be loving life as he looked on at the game, wide eyed.

Gaten, who quickly became one of the most beloved members of the cast, is set to go it alone with his new Netlix show Prank Encounters.

The premise of the show, which ‘takes two complete strangers on the surprise ride of a lifetime’, was first announced back in June, but aspects of that description – namely how the two people who are pranked in each episode are apparently portrayed as jobseekers – were criticised online.

After the series was branded ‘disgusting’, Netflix responded to the backlash.

The pranks in Prank Encounters are spooky, supernatural, and over the top, and everyone had a great time,’ they told Metro.co.uk in a statement.

‘All participants came in with the expectation this was a one-day, hourly gig and everyone got paid for their time.’

Gaten went on to address the controversy in a video, clarifying that none of the participants in the show were ‘promised a part-time or full time-job, and everybody was compensated’.

Since, the trailer for the series has dropped, showing spooked participants getting a real fright from the show’s devious set-ups, including a murderous, animated teddy bear and a Freddy Krueger-type character staging a home invasion.

As for whether it’ll prove the naysayers wrong, only time will tell.
