Stormzy has blessed us with new album Heavy Is The Head, to give us a little respite from all the general election results.

And in one track, the Vossi Bop rapper poured his heart out over his split from ex-girlfriend Maya Jama.

The pair called time on their relationship back in August, after four years together, and the 26-year-old has now revealed their break-up is his ‘biggest regret’.

In emotional song Lessons, he opened up about pouring their romance ‘down the drain’ before revealing their plans to start a family together.

He can be heard rapping: ‘Guess this is the karma for what I done to Maya.

‘Greatest love I ever knew, I poured it down the drain. Maybe it’s the only way we both call it a day.

‘You gave me the world and then I gave you disrespect. Hand on my heart, this is my biggest of regrets.’

Appearing to reference baby plans, he added: ‘God loves a trier, I can’t even fathom what I probably had you going through.

‘You cannot imagine how I’m sorry, man, I’m showing you. Now I haven’t even got the luxury of knowing you.

‘We was even meant to share a seed and let it grow in you.’

Maya, 25, has yet to publicly acknowledge Stormzy’s song.

The pair split back in August after four years together, with a rep telling Metro.co.uk at the time: ‘Yes, I can confirm the relationship has ended and Maya has separated from Stormzy.’

Rumours then began floating that the Shut Up star had cheated with Jorja Smith but both categorically denied the claims.

While he didn’t lift the lid on exactly what went wrong, an insider previously revealed that the rapper ‘felt comfortable’ using his platform to express his true emotions about their relationship coming to an end.

‘Stormzy’s never spoken out about his split from Maya but it really hit him hard,’ they told The Sun.

‘They were very close and lived together, there was so much history.

‘Lessons is a heartfelt song and a real highlight of the album – he had to get it on there.’

Stormzy’s second album, Heavy Is The Head, is out now.
