Stormzy and Maya Jama are reportedly in contact again after he delivered a heartfelt public apology on his new album following their shock split this summer.

The Vossi Bop rapper poured his heart out on the track Lessons, which features on his brand new album Heavy Is The Head.

It’s the first time Stormzy, real name Michael Omari Jr, has spoken out about his split from Maya in August after four years together. Lessons sees the rapper take the blame for their break-up and reveal how they had planned to have children.

Now insiders say the 26-year-old rapper has been texting the BBC Radio 1 presenter and hopes there’s a chance for reconciliation.

‘Stormzy has been texting Maya,’ the source told The Sun.

‘He knew that he would bring their relationship centre stage again by releasing a track about it, and he felt it was right to reach out.

‘Maya was obviously devastated… but the fact he has been so open about it has worked in his favour.’

The source added: ‘Now they are getting on well again, and their close friends are hoping they might give their relationship another chance.’

Stormzy doesn’t hold back on Lessons, which is undoubtedly his most personal song to date.

Lyrics include: ‘Fast forward now and my nephew is still asking for his Aun- tie Maya.

‘Guess this is the karma for what I done to Maya  . . .  Greatest love I ever knew, I poured it down the drain.’

He also raps: ‘You cannot imagine how I’m sorry, man, I’m showing you.

‘Now I haven’t even got the luxury of knowing you. We was even meant to share a seed and let it grow in you.’

This summer, Maya, 25, moved out of the London home she shared with the rapper with those close to her claiming she wanted to focus on her career.

Maya, who has jetted off on a solo holiday this weekend, recently opened up about how difficult the split was for her in the public eye.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, the presenter said: ‘Breaking up was brutal in the megawatt glare of the 24/7 news cycle.

‘I used to read magazines when I was little and see all these Hollywood people break up and they didn’t feel like real people. And then when you’re in that position, you’re like, oh s**t, it’s very real.’

Stormzy’s new album Heavy Is The Head is out now.
