Stormzy and Maya Jama separate after four years together

Grime rapper Stormzy and has separated from his long-term girlfriend Maya Jama after four years together.

Speculation surrounding the couple’s split began circulating on social media earlier this week after it was reported that the musician and his TV presenter girlfriend had broken up to focus on their careers.

On Wednesday, the rumours were confirmed by Jama’s rep, who told the Metro: “Yes, I can confirm the relationship has ended and Maya has separated from Stormzy.”

The couple’s separation comes just days after the “Crown” rapper attended Jama’s 25th birthday party at Night Tales bar in Hackney, London on Sunday.

The pair were also pictured together last Wednesday, when Stormzy and Jama attended a birthday dinner at London restaurant Sexy Fish.

In June, Jama was on-hand to support the “Vossi Bop” rapper as he made history headlining Glastonbury, becoming the first black British solo artist to do so.

The couple first met in October 2014 at the Red Bull Culture Clash and began dating the following January.

Many fans have shared their sadness regarding the news of their breakup, with one person tweeting: “Nah man Stormzy & Maya Jama can’t have split up [sic].”

Another person wrote: “Maya Jama & Stormzy splitting has hit me hard.”

A third added: “I need proof that Stormzy and Maya Jama have split because I refuse to believe it and if they have I’m so done with love.”

In a February 2018 interview with Vogue , Jama spoke about the first time she met Stormzy, admitting she “fancied him from the start”.

“But I didn’t want anything yet, because, you know, you’re trying to do the whole friend situation first, and then I’d do, like, obvious hints that I fancied him and then take it back because I didn’t know if he definitely liked me,” Jama said.

“It was a childish phase. And then one day we just kissed, and that was that!”
