Ban this blood-soaked fur farm trade, says the Voice of the Mirror

Fur farming is disgusting, cruel and indefensible. We don’t need to factory-farm animals to stay warm or look stylish.

As skins are still imported from abroad, ending this monstrosity in Britain is only part of the answer. This despised trade is powered abroad by pounds spent in Britain.

Our revelations today about the breeding of furs in Finland is only the tip of a gruesome iceberg. But public pressure can force the Government to put a stop to this outrage.

We can no longer blame the EU. There are no more excuses for inaction in Britain.

The sooner new fur purchases are outlawed, the sooner breeders will be put out of business.

Con backfires

Boris Johnson’s con trick on the elderly is backfiring because people are realising that he’s taking them for fools.

The scam is being played on older folk in England’s North and other areas with lower property prices, including some in the South and Wales as well as Scotland.

The Tories are increasing taxes for everybody, then penalising people with ordinary houses to subsidise owners of expensive places in London and the Home Counties.

It’s another giant deception by a Prime Minister levelling down working and middle-class folk to finance the well-off and rich.

Johnson is a stranger to honesty but, even by his debased standards, the deception plotted against those who fear they may require help in later years is stomach-churning.

Tory MPs who vote for the trick deserve to be kicked out of Parliament – hopefully, alongside their despicable leader.

Work to rule

The Queen deserves to be admired for trying never to let her advancing years get in the way of her duties.

Younger royals would do well to put in half the effort Her Majesty does at 95.
