Stone Cold Steve Austin knows a thing or two about success in WWE – and he thinks Andrade has what it takes to be a ‘player’ in the company.

The Hall of Famer – who enjoyed a legendary career holding world titles, main eventing WrestleMania and influencing a whole generation – has suggested the Mexican superstar is one for fans to keep a close eye on, even if he still has some things to work on first.

‘Right now, the people that are on top are the people that should be on top,’ he told Sports Illustrated.

‘But I called this two years ago watching his match when he did the favours for somebody that night, and I said, “Man, this Andrade kid is going to be a player one of these days.” I think he’s proving that.’

The Texas Rattlesnake urged Andrade to really nail down his character to match his obvious in-ring talents and really cement his spot at the top of the ladder.

When it comes to becoming one of the highlighted talents on WWE programming, Austin explained the people who become the real deal do so because of their genuine connection with the audience.

‘The people that have tremendous success either have a gimmick that is so close to them that it’s basically them turned up or it’s so far away from them that it cannot be missed,’ he added.

The legendary wrestler explained that whether a wrestler is a heel or a babyface they need to ‘establish [themselves] as a brand’.

‘[The audience] is living vicariously through your storylines,’ he explained.

‘They feel strength, vulnerability, or power. If it works, you’re doing something that resonates with people in regards to entertainment and wanting to invest in a person.’
