Steven Gerrard explains Man Utd vs Liverpool prediction ahead of Super Sunday clash

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has listed the reasons why his former side should beat Manchester United this weekend.

The Reds can go 18 points clear of their rivals with a win on Sunday as they hunt a first Premier League title, and the Rangers boss is backing them to do just that.

The ex-England captain has listed off several reasons why he expects his former side to take three points back to Merseyside, which would be their 18th victory in a row in the league stretching back to last season.

When asked if this was the best time for Liverpool to be going to Old Trafford, Gerrard replied: “Yes.”

When asked how he expected the game to go, he added: “A Liverpool win.”

The 39-year-old was then questioned why he was so confident that he former side will win, and he listed several reasons.

He stated: “Well they’ve played eight and won eight haven’t they.

“The front three are in fantastic form and they’re not conceding many goals, they’re European champions.

“Do you want any others reasons why Liverpool are going to beat Manchester United?

“Did you think I was going to say anything different?”

Although the away side are favourites to take home all three points, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained why his side have a chance.

“Sometimes we’ve struggled more in games where we’ve had to break teams down,” he told Sky Sports.

“We’ve had 75 or 80 per cent possession in games and we haven’t been able to create the big chances.

“The Chelsea and Leicester games at home were 50-50 possession, and we’ve had more spaces to attack into.

“I can’t see Liverpool coming to park the bus – that’s just not in their mentality.

“So I can see it being an open game, which will suit us.”
