Steve Aoki has a long list of collaborations to his name, including the likes of Will.i.am, Linkin Park, Louis Tomlinson and blink-182.

Just a few months back, the 41-year-old also teamed up with the K-pop band BTS on their 2018 hit Waste It On Me.

The DJ worked alongside the group twice last year after he remixed their track Mic Drop.

And now, while chatting to Forbes, the producer has opened up about the seven piece and his hopes that they’ll soon be played on mainstream radio.

Getting excited about the prospect, Steve told the publication: ‘Asian culture is taking the world by storm, and without any real help from these larger institutions, these radio platforms that are pretty much the number one way for pop music to become pop culture.

‘So you have artists like BTS who, whether a radio station plays them or not, they will have millions upon millions of fans in countries all across the world.’

He talked about how people are slowly discovering their music – making them become one of the biggest bands of this generation.

‘They don’t need the larger institution to be able to be like, “Well, if you don’t play their song on the radio, it’s not going to pop in this country,”‘ he said, before adding: ‘It already did, and the fans already are circulating the music.’

And it sounds as though the marvel has high hopes for the South Korean band, as he believes they’ll soon be played on the radio next to the likes of Ariana Grande.

He continued: ‘There’s a high likelihood there will be a song sung in Korean played back to back with Post Malone and Ariana Grande on mainstream radio. And I think BTS will be the artist that will be up there.’

The boys are currently preparing to release Map of the Soul: Persona, which is set to drop later this month.

And in an attempt to hype their fans up for their latest work, the group uploaded a string of potential concept images.

One version shows Jungkook munching on, posing with and otherwise channelling his aegyo with cookies.

While another has V posing with a camera phone and a selfie stick – a nod to his habit of taking lots of pictures.

BTS leader RM is also seen with a giant green duvet and alternates between peace signs and hearts donned in a bright yellow beanie, while Jin looks like he’s in a Vogue photoshoot.
