Steps are finally back with new music, and it’s safe to say the fandom is obsessed already as the band unveiled their new song What The Future Holds.

The new track, which is written by none other than the legend that is Sia, comes three years after the band’s comeback following a five-year break.

Claire Richards, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer, Lee Latchford-Evans and Ian ‘H’ Watkins premiered their new single on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Tuesday.

Fans couldn’t contain their excitement at the new track, particularly when they found out the band had enlisted Sia to write it.

They tweeted: ‘So your (sic) telling me… Sia wrote a song for Steps and it’s What the Future Holds? (And also is a huge fan of theirs too?) Already ‘Buzz’ing for this new album.’

Others added: ‘The signed cd is pre-ordered!!!!’ and ‘If that music is the intro to the new single I know I’m gonna love it already’.

As well as the new single, Steps have announced an album with the same name will be released on November 27, and fans will also get to see them on tour from November 2021 too.

The band will kick off their What The Future Holds 2021 tour in Sheffield on November 2, 2021 with tickets going on general sale from Friday, September 18 and to carry on the nostalgia, their special guest will be Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

What The Future Holds will be Steps’ sixth studio album and will be released on all digital platforms as well as CD and vinyl, including a special limited edition transparent pink version, as well as set of five separate cassettes each with an intro from one of the band members.

The album is set to contain ‘big melodic choruses of their top-tier bangers but also brings back the harmony-laden ballads and some atmospheric mid-tempos’, so it’s sure to be a hit with the fans.
