Steph McGovern: 'It's my favourite' BBC Breakfast star makes revelation amid pregnancy

Steph McGovern, 37, shared some exciting news with her 363,000 Twitter followers this morning. The pregnant BBC Breakfast host revealed she was “chuffed” to be on the judging panel for the Theakstons Crime Novel of the Year 2019. Gushing about the literary competition on the micro-blogging site, she shared a snap of Steve Cavanagh’s book Thirteen and added the caption: “It’s my fave time of the year… “@TheakstonsCrime Festival in Harrogate. Chuffed to be on the judging panel for the Theakstons Crime Novel of the Year 2019.”

Steph then took the opportunity to announce the winner of the contest, adding: “The winner is @SSCav with his b****y brilliant book Thirteen.

“If you’re looking for a good crime thriller read this…”

Following her post about the festival, the BBC favourite explained she was looking forward to interviewing writers and actors at the event.

In a separate tweet accompanied by a Line of Duty GIF, she added: “Over the last 5 years of coming to @TheakstonsCrime Festival I’ve interviewed some amazing writers/actors including Paul @AbbottVision @AnnCleeves @BrendaBlethyn @kennydoughty.

“This year is another cracker… I’ll be chatting to @jed_mercurio.”

Fans took to the comments section of Steph’s tweet to share their thoughts about the prize-winning book.

“Yep, I am no longer with pot belly… I am now with child. #babyonboard.”

In reference to the news, a source told The Sun: “Steph and her girlfriend are absolutely thrilled.

“Everyone at the Beeb is delighted too — she is one of the most popular faces on and off the red sofa.

“But she won’t be doing any magazine shoots any time soon — she values her privacy too much.”

Back in January last year, Steph spoke out to deny rumours about her pregnancy.

She tweeted at the time: “For those who are congratulating me on my ‘pregnancy’. I am not ‘with child’, I am ‘with pot belly.’”

BBC Breakfast continues from 6am on BBC One.
