Steph McGovern candidly opens up on personal life in rare admission ‘I find it difficult’

Former BBC Breakfast star Steph McGovern, 37, became a mum for the first time back in November, with her partner, whose identity is unknown. Yesterday, she launched The Steph Show on Channel 4 and admitted she had been finding it difficult to sleep.

Speaking to guest Keith Lemon, real name Leigh Francis, she discussed what was trending on Twitter, before making her own admission.

She said: “Something that is trending today is about sleep.

“I don’t know about you, I find it difficult to sleep because I’ve got a baby and a show.

“It’s general anxiety as well. Hashtag can’t sleep is doing the rounds.”

Keith went on to say he was trying to get up and “wear bright colours” to brighten up the mood amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Despite her difficulty, Steph later revealed how working from home with a baby had been an advantage.

The presenter caught up with Strictly Come Dancing professional Anton Du Beke, who has also been staying at home with his wife and their three-year-old twins.

The dancer said he had been potty training their twins while on lockdown.

“Born on Monday morning just as @BBCBreakfast was wrapping up. We’re all fine and dandy. Just getting used to the eau de sick/poo I am now regularly wearing. #babylife.”

Steph regularly shares details about her baby’s antics and motherhood, but hasn’t unveiled her daughter’s name or identity as of yet.

Earlier this week, she joked about receiving the “best feedback” about her show from her baby.

She wrote: “Finished the rehearsal… then picked up my baby for a cuddle, she threw up on my shoulder and burped in my face. Best feedback I’ve ever had.

#TheStephShow.”

Ahead of launching her live show yesterday, she told fans she was “bricking it”.

But, the star didn’t have nothing to worry about as fans praised her for her efforts.

She later thanked viewers for their support on Twitter.

She wrote: “Well that was fun/scary. Cheers for all the messages.

“Don’t forget… if there is someone we should get on the show to chat to or who deserves a shoutout for being fab email us steph@stephshow.co.uk.”
