Steph McGovern: BBC star left panicked during 'unexpected' mishap amid pregnancy

BBC Breakfast presenter Steph McGovern, 37, recalled the moment she was accidentally sick on herself while on the toilet.

The presenter, who is around seven months pregnant, said she decided to share the mishap on social media in a bid to cheer up anyone who may have had a bad day.

In view of her 375,000 followers, she wrote: “Graphic content… Something to hopefully make you laugh if you’ve had a bad day.

“My [pregnancy] sickness is back… this morn I unexpectedly [vomited] on myself whilst having a wee.

“In a panic I spun round to aim sick in [the toilet]. I then p****d on the floor. #keepingitreal #analogyforpolitics.”

Many of the presenter’s fans flocked to her page to comment on her revelation.

One user joked Steph was lucky the mishap wasn’t shown on television.

They wrote: “At least it didn’t happen on live tv!!”

The BBC star replied: “I try not to be filmed whilst on the loo (if I can help it)”, alongside crying with laughter emojis.

Steph McGovern announced her pregnancy news on Twitter back in July.

Days after revealing the news, she told her co-stars she had a “rough start” to pregnancy.

The conversation began when Jon Kay showed viewers a newspaper article regarding Steph’s news.

He then asked her how she has been coping, to which she replied: “I’m good thank you, bit of a rough start but I’m alright now thank you.”

Elaborating, Steph reflected on a time she almost threw up over her co-star Charlie Stayt.

“Charlie nearly got watermelon over him one morning,” she laughed.

Sally Nugent then joked she could be Steph’s midwife after revealing she was at the birth of Victoria Fritz’s first baby.

“For anyone who doesn’t know I was with Victoria when she had her first baby. So Steph, I’m your midwife,” she said.

Earlier this month, Steph McGovern proudly showed off her blossoming bump at the TV Choice Awards.

Sporting a figure-hugging black jumpsuit, Steph was seen posing with her hand on her hip as she confidently smiled for cameras.

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
