Statins: 'Excessive' consumption of two fruit juices can intensify side effects – BMJ



STATINS provide a buffer against heart disease by reducing the production of cholesterol in the liver. The effects of the cholesterol-lowering drugs are not entirely benign, however. Specific dietary interactions can induce unpleasant side effects. According to a BMJ review, “excessive” consumption of two fruits can intensify a painful side effect.
