This one-month-old cat was brought back from the brink of death after it was bathed in glue and left for dead.

It weighed just 200 grams, had feathers stuck all over its body and was thought to be suffering from dehydration, hypothermia and low blood sugar.

The cat, dubbed ‘Palomita,’ (Little Pigeon) was found on the streets of the Chilean capital of Santiago by vet Daniella Herrera.

Despite finding it in a serious condition, she is confident the kitten will recover.

Ms Herrera said: ‘We have to keep bathing her so her skin does not get too irritated.

‘She only weighs 200 grams so we do not want to poison her.’

Palomita, who is also suffering from kidney problems, will be adopted by a family once it has fully recovered.

Ms Herrera sharing regular updates on the cat’s recovery process on her Instagram account.

On it, she wrote: ‘It needs to gain weight and strength so it can meet its forever family who are very loving.’

The vet says donations have been rolling in ever since Palomita’s heartbreaking story was reported by local media.
