Esports data firm GRID has acquired the exclusive data rights for the StarLadder Berlin Major Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament, the company announced this week.

GRID will tap into StarLadder’s data from the event in a number of ways. The company’s Stats and Insights services will be utilized to enhance the broadcasts with in-depth statistical analysis, with data-focused content also created for use via StarLadder’s social media channels.

The firm will also monitor competitive integrity at the event and help monetize StarLadder’s data while ensuring that the data isn’t stolen for commercial use by other entities. The $1M tournament will hold its finals from Sept. 5-8 at Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Arena.

“Through the partnership, we’ll be working closely with StarLadder helping them maximize revenue through leveraging the significant data assets. We’ll also be acting as their data and competitive integrity body,” said GRID vice president of partnerships Charles Hanley-Nickolls, in a release. “At GRID, we also work to improve fan experience by enhancing broadcasts, and this will be the same with StarLadder. Through our Stats and Insights services, data-driven content pieces are automatically generated and pushed to StarLadder for use on their social media and broadcast channels.”

GRID previously partnered with FACEIT for last September’s FACEIT London Major, for which it provided data and analytics for the broadcasts and commentators alike.
