Stamps celebrating England's World Cup glory to be released next month

Eight stamps featuring images taken during the finals of the Cricket World Cup and the subsequent celebrations are to go on sale next month.

The photos of the England Men and Women’s winning teams from this year and 2017 respectively will be presented in two miniature sheets costing £4.60 and will be available from September 26.

The men’s sheet captures four moments of celebration after England’s victory against New Zealand at Lord’s.

The women’s sheet depicts celebrations following their World Cup Final against India, also at Lord’s, in 2017.

It is the first time England Men and Women cricket teams have held both trophies simultaneously.

Royal Mail also decorated some of its post boxes in white with a stylised gold cricket bat, ball and stumps at each of the grounds that played host to the two tournaments.

The stamps will provide a way for supporters to remember and revel in the sensational wins of both teams.

England Men won their first ever World Cup in July after the final went to a Super Over in which England came out on top by virtue of having scored more boundaries after they drew 15-15.

England Women, meanwhile, beat India in the final two years ago by nine runs.

The men are in Ashes action at the moment, and levelled the series at 1-1 on Sunday following a one wicket win at Headingley. They start the fourth Test next Wednesday in Old Trafford.

The women, meanwhile, lost to Australia in the Ashes but won their most recent Twenty20 match against the same team by 17 runs.

England Men’s hero Ben Stokes revealed the team had celebrated the dramatic Headingley win with a trip to McDonalds .

Stokes said: “Me, Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes, Rory Burns and Joe Root all jumped in an uber and got £55 worth of McDonald’s drive thru on the way.

“There were quarter pounders and filet ‘o’ fish flying everywhere!”
