Stacey Solomon urges mums to be more positive about 'getting through each day'

Stacey Solomon has urged other mums to be more positive about getting through each day – and has even got a family Christmas card sorted to give her less stress.

The 30-year-old Loose Women panellist had third son Rex this year and the five-and-a-half-month cutie joined less-than-impressed half-brothers Zachary, 11, and seven-year-old Leighton for the funny photo as they made sick gestures while Stacey kissed boyfriend Joe Swash under mistletoe.

And juggling a toddler, two older sons, a live TV career and the stress that comes with Christmas is making her, well… stressed.

Stacey said: “I’m one of the people who say, ‘Yeah, I’d love to do that’. But when it comes to the day, I have to say, ‘I’m really sorry, my little one’s got a temperature or I’m knackered or I can’t bear the thought of having a hangover’.

“We could all find something to feel bad about every single day. That’s easy to do. So instead, let’s say, ‘I’ve done really well. We’re all fed, watered and alive. That’ll do – that’s good enough.”

The family posed in festive PJs for a Card Factory Christmas card campaign as part of Stacey’s early effort to get organised with less stress.

In the social media world where yummy mummies take seconds to snap back to shape, find newborns a cinch and have time to ensure their homes are pristine, Stacey is a refreshing dose of reality.

Her posts are unedited and unapologetic about the physical realities and emotional rigours of motherhood.

Pictured in her nappy-sized post-natal pants or a baby-tum bikini, she is the champion of all mums who feel overwhelmed with love as well as exhaustion.

“People make motherhood look like a breeze but it’s so hard” said Stacey. “I was worried sick about trying to breastfeed Rex. The whole thing was horrific and I was really emotional and upset.

“I looked around for other people who were really struggling and I just couldn’t find them. And I thought, ‘What the hell? Why am I the only person out there who just wants to hide in a hole and cry?’”

Her social media followers recently thought she and Joe, who she’s dated for four years, had secretly married on holiday.

But Stacey said: “We’ve got four kids between us, we’re so focused on making sure they’re happy and that everything’s not too complicated because there’s a lot of dynamics in having a blended family. So marriage is on the back burner.”
