Stacey Solomon: ‘I resented you’ Joe Swash opens up on ‘struggles’ with Loose Women star

Stacey Solomon, 30, and Joe Swash, 37, welcomed their first child together, Rex, back in May. On the Loose Women panelist’s latest podcast, she spoke to her partner about how they both coped in the days after his birth.

Joe admitted he “struggled” and found it “difficult” at the beginning as Stacey didn’t want anyone, even him, touching Rex.

Explaining the reason behind her protectiveness, she said on her podcast titled, Here We Go Again: “After I had Rex, I felt because he was early and tiny and I struggled to feed, I didn’t want anything to harm him and this overwhelming sense of needing to protect him just took over my life.

“What that meant was nobody was allowed near him including you, which wasn’t anything against you. I didn’t want anyone kissing him, didn’t want any germs near him.”

Joe, who will be competing on Dancing On Ice in January, said he “resented” his other-half at times because she didn’t want him anyone near their child.

“How he wasn’t sure if he was getting the chance to bond and how he didn’t know how to make me happy which left him feeling a bit helpless,” Stacey said alongside a crying face emoji.

In another post, she continued: “But carried on being a f***ing power house daddy, even when I wouldn’t let you near me or Rex, touch him or pick him up, you picked me and the boys up with your constant love…”

“We love you daddy, friend, role model, soul mate. To the moon and stars and back again,” Stacey gushed.

Stacey has been opening up about life postpartum on her podcast and the struggles she faced attempting to breast feed Rex.

In a previous episode, the mother-of-three spoke about her “lowest day” with Loose Women pal Nadia Sawalha.

She replayed a voice note she had sent her co-star during the tough time, in which she was very teary.

Stacey’s voice could be heard cracking as she said: “I am really struggling with it, I don’t want to bottle feed him because everyone will want to feed him and he is so small I don’t want anyone near him. But I’m being so crazy.”

Speaking about her struggles to get Rex to latch on, the star discussed: “You know, he hasn’t got a very big mouth and he can’t get it all the way around my nipple. So he just sucks on the top bit. It is so sore. I don’t know.

“He is really little and also I feel sad and I just want to put him back in my belly. I don’t want anyone to come near him, touch him, breathe on him, kiss him. People keep kissing him and I feel weird about it.”
