Stacey Dooley ‘splits from boyfriend Sam Tucknott’ months after winning Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing champion Stacey Dooley has reportedly split from her boyfriend of three years Sam Tucknott.

Dooley won over the public with her dancing as she waltzed to victory with Kevin Clifton last year, but reports during the series claimed that her success in the competition was “putting strain” on her relationship, made worse by going on the show’s live tour immediately after.

And now sources claim it is all over for Dooley and Tucknott, who started dating in 2016, after the “whirlwind” of starring on Strictly and other work commitments.

“She barely saw him during the month-long tour and has gone straight back into filming documentaries and has been travelling,” a source told The Sun.

The insider added that their “lives had gone in different directions” and that Tucknott “had found it quite hard to watch the pair at times” despite no suggestion of anything romantic going on between Dooley and Clifton.

The alleged split makes Dooley and Tucknott the latest couple in a long line of lovers to split up after one of them appears on the show. Previous “victims” of the so-called Strictly curse include Clifton’s ex-celebrity partners Louise Redknapp and Susanna Reid.

Standard Online has contacted representatives for Dooley for comment.

On being crowned the 2018 champion, Dooley headed off on the live arena tour where she danced with Aljaz Skorjanec for the five-week event around the country.

She then filmed a new show called Glow Up for the BBC before heading off to America to make a documentary about arms dealers.

Stacey Dooley hits back in ‘white saviour’ row

The 32-year-old also went to Uganda to film a short segment for Comic Relief, a job that caused a fierce backlash on social media.

Dooley hit back after she was accused of perpetuating “tired and unhelpful stereotypes” by Labour MP David Lammy, among calls she was “encouraging a white saviour complex”.

Responding to a tweet from Lammy, she wrote: “David, is the issue with me being white? (Genuine question).

“Because if that’s the case, you could always go over there and try raise awareness?”
