Stacey Dooley: ‘I’m very lucky’ Star FINALLY opens up about boyfriend Kevin Clifton

Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton were rumoured to be dating after she split from her ex-boyfriend, Sam Tucknott, earlier this year.

The investigative journalist has now opened up about the reason why they have been so quiet about their relationship.

Stacey revealed they want to keep their privacy but couldn’t help but gush over Kevin and called him “amazing”.

In an interview with The Guardian, Stacey spilled: “Kev and I have agreed not to go into too much detail about our private lives because you can’t really indulge that and then ask for privacy.

“That’s why we’ve turned down interviews that have offered us tens of thousands of pounds.”

She went on: “What I am happy to say is Kev’s amazing, I’m happy, life happens, I’ve got an amazing career and I’m very lucky.”

Last week, Kevin appeared on This Morning alongside his sister, Joanne Clifton, where he remained tight-lipped over Stacey.

The siblings were on the show to announce they are going on tour together for the first time.

At the end of their chat, Kevin was taken aback after host Ruth Langford asked him if he and Stacey were “all good”.

Appearing embarrassed, he seemingly awkwardly replied saying the pair are “good”, before Joanne shut down any further chat.

Meanwhile, Stacey’s latest documentary, Face to Face with the Bounty Hunters, is on BBC Three tomorrow.

The Strictly Come Dancing champion got stuck back into her work earlier this year, following her incredible win on the show.

However, the presenter faced criticism about giving up her serious work for more of a celebrity life.

Hitting back at the claims, she continued to the Guardian: “When you win Strictly, you can go down two paths.

“All the offers come in, and you can do very little work and put your name to things for lots of money, or you can go back to making documentaries in Syria and Nigeria and work really b****y hard.

“I said no to a lot of things I didn’t believe in. It’s not that I’m holier than thou, it’s just that it wasn’t for me.”

She added: “So I went back to the day job.”

Stacey will also be on The One Show all this week, stepping in for Alex Jones who is currently on maternity leave

The BBC favourite will be presenting alongside Matt Baker.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in September.
