Stacey Dooley has admitted she would like to start a family, weeks after her romance with Kevin Clifton was revealed.

The journalist’s ex Sam Tucknott exposed the reigning Strictly Come Dancing champions’ relationship when he discovered a text from Kevin, 36, on Stacey’s phone, and since then, pictures of the pair holding hands pretty much confirmed the rumours.

And Stacey, 32, shared her thoughts on having kids as she discussed the possibility of living in America.

What, no move to Grimsby?

Speaking to Red magazine, Stacey said: ‘I wouldn’t mind living abroad for a couple of years. I do love America when I’m there. I hope to still be making documentaries, and maybe there’s another book in me.

‘I would love a family. When I was making the fascinating families series, I thought it must be a beautiful feeling to have “your team”. Maybe one day.’

The BBC documentary-maker split from Sam in March after three years together, with the personal trainer claiming that after they broke up, Stacey started up a relationship with Kevin, who she danced with on the 2018 series of Strictly.

In a text Sam shared with The Sun, Stacey is said to have written: ‘Sam, I know you hate me at the moment.

‘But you saw I didn’t start entertaining and texting him (Kevin) until I split up with you. I was not with you when we started it all.

‘I did fall for him but when we were done. I will tell you anything you want to know.’

Stacey didn’t mention her romance with Kevin in the interview with Red, but did brush off ‘gossip’ from ‘outsiders’.

She said: ‘You have to allow people to think for themselves and you can’t pass judgement. I don’t let outsiders worry me too much, I really mean that.

‘I’m in Iraq filming really remarkable women telling me they’ve lost their babies, you know? So, if somebody’s gossiping or saying they don’t like me, in the grand scheme of things, it’s really not the end of the world.’

While Stacey and Kevin have yet to confirm their relationship, Dooley has been supporting the professional dancer as he tours with the stage show Burn The Floor.

Kevin – who has been married three times, including to Strictly pro Karen Clifton – is set to return to Strictly this year, with his contract stating he must get a celebrity partner.

The full interview with Stacey appears in the July issue of Red, on sale 30 May. For further exclusive content, please go to Red Online.
