Insomniac has offered the most detailed look so far at the Spider-Man PS5 launch game, including hints at more surprise villains.

Although it’s only a spin-off, that’s not expected to last more than around eight hours, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is undoubtedly going to be the most popular launch game for the PlayStation 5.

That’s despite the fact that up till now very little has been known about it, although thanks to the latest issue of American mag Game Informer we suddenly have a lot more information.

Miles has extra abilities that Peter Parker doesn’t, with the preview detailing the ‘venom attacks’ that need a meter to be filled before you can use them and which include a venom punch, stun move, and 15 foot jump.

Unlike Peter, Miles can also camouflage himself, which is no doubt going to handy in stealth sections but will also apparently be used during combat.

The preview also confirms that there are two modes in the game: Performance which lets you play at 4K and 60fps and Fidelity which runs at 4K and 30fps but also features ray-tracing and other high-end effects.

Other details include mention of a new photo mode that allows you to change the lighting, adding up to three extra light sources to your pic.

There’s also a description of the first boss battle, against regular Spider-Man punching bag Rhino, which is apparently ‘far larger in scope’ than anything in the first game.

Although watching the video below it still seems to end with you jumping over his head and tricking him into smashing into something, just like every other Rhino boss battles up till now.

Apparently, there won’t be as many villains as in the original game but there are still some secret new ones that haven’t been announced yet – in addition to the new female version of Tinkerer, who was seen in the last trailer.

Developer Insomniac wouldn’t be drawn as to whether Venom and Green Goblin, who were both teased in the last game, will be featured, hinting that that you may have to wait for the full sequel for them.

‘The threads from the first game still exist, but we’re really focusing on Miles’ chapter and how he is going to become Spider-Man’, said creative director Brian Horton.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be released on PlayStation 4 and 5 on November 19.
