Spice Girls poke fun at ‘sound issues’ as fans rave about ‘AMAZING’ set on Mel B’s birthday

Spice Girls fans were delighted not to experience “sound issues” in Manchester as the band celebrated Mel B’s birthday.

Scary Spice, a.k.a Melanie Brown, marked her 44th birthday surrounded by her bandmates (minus Victoria Beckham) and a legion of adoring fans on Wednesday night.

The first few concerts of the reunion tour in Dublin and Cardiff were plagued by reports of “sound issues,” leaving everything the foursome sang and said “muffled and echoing”

But fans seemed happy with the “wonderful” set at the Etihad Stadium, which saw the band poke fun at previous problems, asking the audience: “Can you hear all right at the back?”

One wrote: “What a brilliant night. Crowd were up for a good night, sang their hearts out. No sound issues. Def had something in my eye during video montage.”

Another said: “Wow what a show… worth every penny and more..definitely no sound issues from where I was .. girls were on fire.”

Fans in high spirits as Spice Girls kick off arena tour in Dublin

“Last night I lived my best life dancing at the spice girls! It was top and the crowd were amazing thanks Kirsty Thomas for taking me #spiceworld2019,” somebody else posted.

Birthday girl Brown celebrated her big day with a lavish cake – although was haunted by the memory of Geri Horner announcing she was leaving the band 21 years ago to the day.

“You better not leave tonight you f****** b****,” Brown joked as Horner pretended to wipe away a tear from her eye.

The girl power group have two weeks left of their stadium tour, which will take them to Sunderland, Coventry, Bristol and Edinburgh before wrapping up at London’s Wembley Stadium with a three-night residency from June 13-15.
