Soulja Boy has been sentenced to spend 240 days in jail after violating the terms of his probation.

The Crank That rapper was arrested on 11 April after reportedly failing to commit to his court-ordered community service.

During his court appearance on Thursday, Soulja was told that his sentence would start immediately but he would be given credit for time served. He has remained in jail for the past 20 days since being taken into police custody.

He was also ordered to serve 265 days of community service.

According to TMZ, the judge revealed they were originally considering a two-year sentence in a state prison, but they also acknowledged Soulja has missed out on business opportunities while locked up.

Soulja’s sentence came despite his lawyer arguing that the rapper’s had an ‘awakening’ about his behaviour while incarcerated over the past two weeks.

In February, Soulja’s home in Agoura Hills was raided and police reportedly found ammunition during the search after initially going there to investigate a claim that Soulja had tied up an ex-girlfriend and held her captive in his garage.

Soulja is said to have violated his parole as being in possession of weapons or ammunition was prohibited, given that he was on probation in relation to a pre-existing weapons case dating way back to 2014.

It’s been a rough few weeks for Soulja, whose home was burglarised last week while he remained in jail.

A caretaker for the rapper’s Agoura Hills home reportedly called the police on 15 April to report a burglary.

The thieves are said to have made off with more than $500,000 (£383,500) worth of jewellery, including chains, earrings and expensive watches.

The burglars are also reported to have broken into the safe where they stole $100,000 (£76,000) in cash.
