Sophie Turner has branded the Game Of Thrones season eight remake petition ‘disrespectful’ following the finale episode.

The 23-year-old actress, who played Sansa Stark in the HBO fantasy, has slammed the online campaign which has received over 1 million signatures, saying that although she’s ‘not surprised’ that viewers have aired their frustration she thinks it’s rude.

‘People always have an idea in their heads of how they want a show to finish, and so when it doesn’t go to their liking, they start to speak up about it and rebel,’ Sophie began.

‘All of these petitions and things like that — I think it’s disrespectful to the crew, and the writers, and the filmmakers who have worked tirelessly over 10 years, and for 11 months shooting the last season.’

Sophie continued to The New York Times: ‘Like 50-something night shoots.

‘So many people worked so, so hard on it, and for people to just rubbish it because it’s not what they want to see is just disrespectful.’

The Change.org petition was launched after the fourth episode of the eighth season titled The Last Of The Starks with  creator Dylan D explaining his position on his hopes for the appeal.

‘I don’t think people can reasonably expect HBO to completely remake the season, or any part of this particular series (keep in mind the prequel spinoffs),’ he wrote.

‘It costs a fortune to shoot one episode, and I think most signers understand that. Will HBO lose gobs of money over this? Eh probably not. As Heath Ledger’s Joker once said, “It’s not about the money, it’s about sending a message”.’

Actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays Bran Stark, also slammed the campaign, calling it ‘ridiculous.’

‘It’s ridiculous that people think they can just demand a different ending because they don’t like it,’ he told The Hollywood Reporter.

‘I have stupidly taken it quite personally, which obviously I shouldn’t. In my opinion, it’s a great ending.’

Game Of Thrones is available to stream on HBO, Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
