One year ago today Sophie Gradon died, now her Love Island castmates are paying tribute to the model.

In 2018 the reality star and former Miss Great Britain was found dead in her parent’s home in Northumberland.

Following an inquest, it was found Sophie died by suicide.

A bunch of her Love Island contestants and friends have now taken to social media to pay respects to Sophie a year on, with many sharing sweet pictures of her.

Her Love Island partner Tom Powell, who voiced his shock the day of her death, after only speaking to her weeks previously, wrote alongside a shot of them: ‘1 year…’

The two were coupled up in the Love Island villa before the Welsh lad and the northern beauty queen fell for one another and became boyfriend/girlfriend in the 2016 season of the ITV2 show.

‘Love you and miss you so much.’

She added on Twitter: ‘RIP to the most beautiful soul and friend Sophie Gradon.. miss you so much.

‘Please all look after each other up there.’

Earlier on Thursday the ITV2 show shared a poignant tribute to Sophie.

Sharing a glowing photo of Sophie on the Love Island Instagram page, the post read: ‘In loving memory of Sophie Gradon (1985 – 2018), missed but never forgotten.’

Sophie’s parents have refuted an inquest which ruled their daughter committed suicide, insisting she was battling with an undiagnosed brain tumour which hindered her thinking and would have had a ‘severe and brutal impact’ in the weeks prior to her death.

She was found by her boyfriend Aaron Armstrong, who then took his own life just five days later.

In March 2019, fellow islander Mike Thalasssitis at 26-years-old was found dead with cocaine and alcohol in his system, sparking an inquest into the duty of aftercare followed by reality TV bosses.
