Sophie Gradon death: Love Island star's cause of death age 32 FINALLY confirmed in inquest

Love Island star Sophie Gradon was found dead at her parents’ home aged 32 in June last year.

An inquest into her death was held at Howard House in North Shields today after it was postponed in March.

According to The Mirror, her parents did not attend the inquest to learn further details of her death.

The publication state that the inquest revealed the Love Island star took her own life after consuming cocaine and alcohol.

Back in March, the publication stated Sophie’s mother and father asked for more time to consider a report containing fresh evidence about Sophie’s final months.

A representative for the Northumberland Coroner’s Court told the publication at the time: “Please note that it has been necessary to cancel the hearing date for the Inquest dealing with the death of Sophie Gradon.

“Sophie’s parents have requested further time to consider a report which was only recently received.”

Following this, they requested her inquest to go ahead today, but without them present.

Back in June, Sophie was found dead at her parents’ home in Ponteland, Northumberland, reportedly by her boyfriend Aaron Armstrong.

A statement from her parents at the time read: “It has been one week since we lost our precious daughter and we as a family are still coming to terms with our sudden loss.

“Our hearts are broken. We wish to say our goodbyes to Sophie in private so we ask that you respect our family’s privacy during with arduous time.”

Three weeks after Sophie’s death, her boyfriend was found hanged at his home, an inquest revealed.

Coroner Eric Armstrong ruled that the 25-year-old took his own life after taking cocaine.

Aaron’s mother Donna discovered him in his bedroom at the family home in Blyth, Northumberland on July 10 last year.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said at the time of Aaron’s death: “At around 12.20pm on July 10 police received a report from the ambulance service that a 25-year-old man had been found deceased at a property on Furnace Road in Bebside, Blyth.

Sophie’s mother is reported to have described Sophie and Aaron’s relationship as “very intense and emotional”.

Sophie rose to fame on ITV2 dating show Love Island.

The brunette beauty made history as one half of the programme’s first same-sex couple with Katie Salmon.
