So it sounds like Boy George wants Sophie Turner to play him in his biopic

We’ve sung along to Bohemian Rhapsody, we’ve bawled for hours at Rocketman, and now an epic new Boy George biopic is on the way – and he wants Sophie Turner to play him.

Boy George revealed in May that Sacha Gervasi will write and direct a feature film about the famed ’80s singer and he suggested that as to who would play him, there were some ‘really interesting suggestions.’

“One of the most interesting suggestions was Sophie Turner,” he told Australian radio station Nova 689. ‘[People will say] she can’t play you, she’s a woman, you know. But when I was 17, I would have loved to have been her.”

And it seems like we’re edging even closer to that becoming a reality, with Sophie responding to a tweet about the suggestion saying “I’m SO down.”

But, of course there’s been a mixture of responses on the internet about whether it’s appropriate that someone like Sophie play the Culture Club frontman.

And where there’s news about women in the spotlight, there’s Piers Morgan.

Piers took to Good Morning Britain to express his disapproval as he fumed: “Boy George, in his biopic, presumably at some stage has sex with people. How is he going to do that if he doesn’t have the equipment?

“There are reality checks to having Sophie Turner playing Boy George, one of which is: she’s a woman.”

Ah, just another day in television.

After being met with mostly support from fellow internet fans, suggesting Sophie in the role would be “iconic”, it’s no mistake that if Boy George were to be played by a woman, the Game Of Thrones star would be the perfect candidate with her flair for bold colours and refusing to bow down to societies ideals of how women should behave.

Please make this happen, Boy George!
