Sniper Elite 5, Sniper Elite VR, and two remasters announced by Rebellion

Sniper Elite V2 Remastered – back to Berlin

British developer Rebellion has announced four new Sniper Elite titles, including V2 Remastered and Sniper Elite 3 for Switch.

There's more than one RockstarGames Inbox: Would you care if Sony bought Rockstar Games?

Sniper Elite 4 was one of the low-key best games of 2017, and since the buying public seemed to agree that’s led to the thankfully inevitable announcement of ‘the next major title in the Sniper Elite series’.

Rebellion didn’t actually call it Sniper Elite 5, but that’s clearly what they were hinting at in today’s Twitch livestream for fans.

It was far from their only revelation though, as they also announced a new, standalone Sniper Elite VR game. It’ll be developed by British studio Just Add Water, who were behind Gravity Crash and the Oddworld remakes.

Also announced was Sniper Elite V2 Remastered, based on the second entry in the series from 2012. It’ll be released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this year.

The remaster will feature enhanced graphics and support for 4K and HDR on everything but the Switch. Plus, there’ll be new playable characters, a new photo mode, and expanded multiplayer for up to 16 players.

And then finally there’s Sniper Elite III Ultimate Edition, which brings the 2014 cross-generational sequel to the Switch and marks the first time the series has ever been on a Nintendo console (which presumably means it’ll be out before V2 Remastered).

It’ll include all the DLC ever released for the original, plus a Switch-exclusive local multiplayer mode and optional motion controls.

The VR game will be revealed in full later this year, but Rebellion have warned that nothing will be seen of the next mainline title until 2020.
