Homes Under The Hammer presenter Martin Roberts has revealed how they were once shocked to discover what they thought was a dead body in a house.

The TV presenter has admitted that during their scout of one property in Cumbria, the producer shouted out that he’d found a dead body in a bed.

‘I was like, “what do you mean there’s a dead body?”. He said: “In the bed… There’s a dead body.”‘

Admitting that it would have been a first for the show – no kidding – Martin revealed that they walked into the room and saw the body ‘but then they started snoring and we nudged this mound and this old bloke sits up in bed and goes “who are you lot?” and it was grandad’.

Speaking to the Express, Martin then explained that the ‘family had left in such a rush they had forgotten to take grandad with them’.

‘They had forgotten!’

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Martin and BBC for comment.

The show is hosted by Martin, Martel Maxwell and Dion Roberts, and reaches an average of 1.1 million viewers each day.

The format sees the pair follow two or three properties which have been purchased at auction by homeowners or property developers, and which often require significant refurbishment.

Semi-detached residential homes to rural plots of lands are all included and viewers get to follow the new owners from auction to the final valuation provided by an estate agent.

However Martin added that Brexit has seen a drop in the number of people buying properties at auctions, and that the show now has aq quicker turnaround: ‘It reflects what is going on, we have in recent times been doing quick turnarounds like I’ve never seen before.

‘I saw a property and in six weeks, it’s going on air.’
