Sky Sports announce viewers can pause subscriptions amid football's suspension

Sky Sports have announced that viewers will be able to pause their subscriptions following the suspension of the Premier League as well as the Football League and other sporting events, including F1.

Football in England has been suspended until at least April 3 amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

And with fixtures off for at least three weeks, Sky Sports have decided to act on behalf of their customers.

A statement said: “While we expect that many of the recently postponed sports events will eventually go ahead, if you wish to pause your sports subscription in the meantime you will not be charged a fee to do so or be held to any notice period.

“Meanwhile we continue to provide high quality content across all of our 11 sports channels.

“We are sorry that you are currently unable to pause your Sky Sports subscription online.”

Their decision has put the pressure on BT Sport to also act.

Both providers are reworking their schedules to make up for the lack of live football.

For example, BT Sport is planning to show reruns of matches that have already been played this season.
