Sir Elton John has appeared after making comments about Michael Jackson and various other celebrities in his soon-to-be-released memoir.

The star was seen alongside husband David Furnish as the pair attempted to make a stealthy exit from the back entrance of star hotspot Craig’s in West Hollywood.

Shielding his face from the crowds waiting for him, the 72-year-old Rocketman held his hand up as he sat in the backseat of his car.

He was looking resplendent in a colourful blue, green and red coat and his famous tinted sunglasses, as the world prepared to read his memoir, Me: Elton John.

His Sunday outing comes amid his eyebrow-raising tales which include anecdotes of witnessing the Queen repeatedly slap her nephew, his drug use, a near overdose and, most recently, his thoughts on Michael Jackson.

The Thriller singer, who died in 2009, was allegedly the subject of Elton’s tome, in which the Crocodile Rock star claimed that Michael Jackson was ‘a disturbing person’ and suggested the singer had ‘totally lost his marbles’ by the 2000s.

Elton opened up on the so-called King Of Pop, reportedly questioning ‘what prescription drugs he was being pumped full of’ and claiming that he ‘couldn’t seem to cope with adult company at all’.

‘The poor guy looked awful, really frail and ill,’ the singer allegedly wrote in his book, writing that Jackson’s nose was ‘covered with a sticking plaster’ and his make-up has been applied by a ‘maniac’.

‘For whatever reason, he couldn’t seem to cope with adult company at all,’ the book allegedly reads, with Elton reportedly later writing that Jackson was ‘genuinely mentally ill, a disturbing person to be around’.

Elton has been dishing all of the dirt in his memoir, with one story claiming that Richard Gere and Sylvester Stallone (almost literally) were fighting over Princess Diana.

Following the claims, that have been serialised in the Daily Mail over the past week, Elton was slammed by his half-brother for portraying their father as unsupportive in his memoir.

In his new autobiography, the Candle In The Wind singer writes that his dad Stanley Dwight had no interest in his music career and never saw him perform. But Elton’s older half-brother Geoff argues that wasn’t the case and claims Stanley was actually ‘proud’ of the singer.

Speaking to The Mirror, Geoff said: ‘I don’t understand because my mum, my dad and me, we all went to see him as his guests in Liverpool.

‘That was definitely a concert, my dad was definitely there, he was definitely playing and we definitely watched it. I was five.’

The 53-year-old said of Elton: ‘Either he has got massive memory loss and he genuinely thinks his dad hasn’t seen him in concert or maybe he wants to believe that.’

Me: Elton John is released 15 October.
