The bar industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus crisis as even before pubs and restaurants were ordered to close, footfall was down.

Many have lost their jobs and are waiting on the promised support from the government, but they still have bills to pay.

The Drinks Trust is an organisation that helps to support people who work in bars and pubs and they’re asking people who can to donate to a fund so they can help people who have lost their jobs.

Gin company Sipsmiths has teamed up with the organisation to give their fans a drink to enjoy at home, while supporting The Drinks Trust campaign.

Everyone who pays £20 into the Sip and Support fund through GoFundMe will get a unique code to order free 12 cans of gin and tonic on the Sipsmith website.

The cans will be sent by contactless delivery free of charge for you to enjoy on your sofa or while visiting your new virtual pub.

Sipsmith explained: ‘We know that pubs and bars are the centre-point of many communities. So we wanted to give each one of you the power to support your bartender friends and local pub workers from the comfort of your sofa during these unprecedented times.

‘Therefore, by way of thanks (whilst ensuring responsible drinking), anyone who pledges £20+ will be sent a unique code to order a complimentary case of 12 superbly sippable Light Sipsmith G&Ts in a can from our website, to sip with your family or housemates.

‘Whilst we work hard to fundraise as much as possible, you can enjoy a bar quality G&T…without the bar. ‘

They’ve already raised over £17,000 in one day and goal is to raise over £55,000.

To donate, and get your free G&Ts, visit their GoFundMe page.
