With no option to nip to the salon, now is the perfect time to try your hand at the ‘quarantine nails’ trend (aka, giving it a go yourself).
Pastels for spring aren’t groundbreaking, no, but they are timeless. And gradient nails have been all over our feeds in 2020, proving to be one the year’s most popular beauty trends. So pastel gradient nails are a match made in heaven for this time of year.
Simply use whatever colours you have at home, just be sure to switch up the colour on each nail.
Easter egg-inspired polka dot nails are another option for the bumper bank holiday.
The MakeUp Studio shows how to keep things relatively simple – by only putting polka dots on one or two nails and keeping the others one pastel colour.
Easter wouldn’t be Easter without generous helpings of Cadbury’s Mini Eggs.
But it seems the little sugary eggs have not only proved popular with sweet tooths, but with nail artists, too – as the familiar speckled look has inspired designs over recent years.
The eggshell effect can be created over a pastel manicure by randomly adding darker speckles on top – the more the better.
For something a little more quirky, why not take inspiration from an actual egg?
Nail artist Betina R. Goldstein showed off her fried egg nails on her Instagram page, which were created by using a negative space background (painting it clear) followed by the addition of white polish for the egg shape and yellow polish for the yolk.
For those looking for something a little simpler, focusing on the ends is a great place to start. A pastel tip manicure is slightly easier than full-on nail designs and creates a refined, delicate look.
Each nail tip can be painted a different pastel colour, or keep them the same shade for a more uniform style.
The good news is, if you mess up, you’ll have plenty of time to redo them.
