She added: ‘It’s really hard to respond to them all at once but I’m making my way through. But I see them and really appreciate you all.’

In the accompanying photo, Simone smiled while protectively holding her baby daughter, Gracie-Mae, over her shoulder.

The image was in stark contrast to the confronting selfie Simone had shared to Instagram on Wednesday, in which she looked tearful and upset.

Simone’s post sparked concern among fans, as she candidly discussed her struggles with anxiety and depression after giving birth last October.

In a lengthy caption, she wrote: ‘I took this photo at a very low point. Gracie-Mae had just been born, I think she [was] just over a week old. I had major anxiety and [was] depressed if I am being honest.

‘I’ve been saving this picture so I can look back at it and see how far I have come and to remind myself of how strong I am.’

Simone went on to reveal she had struggled with anxiety before becoming pregnant, and had managed her stress levels by staying fit and healthy.

‘When I just gave birth [my health and fitness] plummeted and it was completely out of control,’ she continued.

The personal trainer found things ‘really tough’ after giving birth, as her mother wasn’t around and her boyfriend, Matt Thorne, had to return to work.

‘We had no family and were struggling with money, Gracie-Mae was crying and nothing I did was settling her,’ she confessed.

'I was sleep deprived and could not see the light at the end of the tunnel,' she added

Simone described motherhood as ‘confronting’ and ‘very scary’, adding: ‘I was sleep deprived and could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. I felt lonely and a little trapped.’

Fortunately, Simone has overcome much of her anxiety since the photo was taken.

She concluded by saying that ‘it’s still hard’ being a mum ‘and there are days like yesterday that are a struggle’, but she’s proud of what she has achieved.
