Simon Cowell sports a sore looking cut on his forehead

Simon Cowell displays a bloodied gash on his forehead after painfully hitting his face on his front door just hours before The X Factor: Celebrity finale

Simon Cowell sported a sore looking cut on his forehead as he arrived at The X Factor: Celebrity studios for the grand finale on Saturday evening.

The music mogul, 60, pointed to the mark on his way into the studio for filming, which he got after accidentally hitting his face on the front door of his house on his way to the show.

Despite the cut, Simon was clearly in high spirits on his way to filming as he grinned and gave a thumbs up.

The TV star cut a casual figure, wearing a white open buttoned shirt that showed off his slimmed down physique.

The businessman also sported a pair of navy trousers along with dark shoes for the evening.

The final episode of the show saw reality star Megan McKenna crowned the winner, receiving 46.3% of the public vote.

Simon had been centre stage to see former TOWIE star Megan, 27, beat tough competition from Jenny Ryan and Max and Harvey to be crowned the winner.

In her path to victory in the series’ final episode Megan performed her song This as well as a rendition of Leona Lewis’s One More Sleep.

And viewers were treated to an extra spectacle from judge Nicole Scherzinger as she slipped into a very racy ensemble to perform with The Pussycat Dolls for the first time in a decade.

Deemed ‘too sexy’ for a pre-watershed performance, the Pussycat Dolls writhed and danced on chairs, before being drenched in water for the last part of their routine.

They performed a medley of their greatest hits including Buttons, When I Grow Up and Don’t Cha for the adoring crowd.

It wasn’t long before Simon’s injury was covered with make-up, and he also made the quick change into a snazzy suit ahead of the live finale.

The former American Idol judge has been happily flaunting his two stone weight loss in recent weeks following a strict vegan diet.

Simon admitted during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in September that he drastically changed his diet so he could keep up with son Eric, five.
