Simon Cowell appears to have roped his son Eric into his new healthy lifestyle by taking the little tyke on a relaxing bike ride over the weekend.

The Britain’s Got Talent host was spotted out and about with his mini-me in Malibu on Sunday afternoon, taking advantage of the warm Californian weather with a bike ride.

Simon, 59, looked as cool as ever in a pair of dark shades as he cruised along on his electric bicycle – although he was noticeably missing a helmet.

Fortunately, little Eric practiced health and safety unlike his father, as he wore protective gear while cycling alongside Simon on a bright orange bike.

It was strictly a boys only outing as Eric’s mother, and Simon’s partner Lauren Silverman, was nowhere to be seen.

While Simon will have us believe his healthy lifestyle is simply down to cutting out junk food, his BGT co-judge Amanda Holden has another idea.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Amanda told Piers Morgan: ‘He’s drinking lightweight beers, that’s the secret. And I tasted it because I thought it was gonna taste, like, naff. Actually it’s quite decent. You could take a tip from him.’

Opening up about his new healthy regime, Simon recently told Closer magazine: ‘People have said: “Oh, he’s had a gastric band fitted” – but I haven’t. If I had, I would admit to it. This diet is all about what you put into your body.

‘I met this doctor in LA and he told me my diet was appalling and I had to cut out fatty foods and certain drinks.

He added: ‘I could see the difference. Cutting out sugar made a massive difference. The first few weeks were difficult, but then I actually stopped craving sugar. I had also found a brilliant gluten-free beer, which helps.’

Maybe little Eric will help keep his dad’s diet in check.
