Simon Cowell almost 'paralysed' by horror bike crash after narrowly missing 'spinal cord'

Simon Cowell, 60, was rushed to Providence Saint John’s hospital after breaking his back following an electric bike crash in Malibu. The Britain’s Got Talent star is reported to have suffered numerous fractures and has undergone six hours of surgery.

A close friend revealed that he had narrowly missed breaking his spinal cord by “a centimetre.”

Which would have left the star unable to walk ever again.

A source told The Mirror: “I spoke to him before the surgery and he was in incredible, ridiculous amounts of pain and also in shock.

“His back was broken in several places, but he is actually very lucky.

The injuries will now see him in a lengthy hospital stay, putting a halt to all plans, including the live launch of America’s Got Talent.

Medical experts have said the music mogul is “lucky” not to have faced permanent paralysis.

Simon was rushed to the Providence Saint John’s hospital in Santa Monica, which is near his £18 million mansion following the incident.

A source added: “He’s only just out of surgery and feeling very groggy but is awake and upbeat.
