Shroud joins Ninja on Mixer, new Twitter post confirms with trailer

Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek’s Twitter account has confirmed that the big time Twitch streamer has moved over to Mixer, in the same style as Ninja.

The news confirmed today through another mock media announcement, using the same style as the Ninja announcement earlier this year.

This makes the second massive signing for Microsoft’s Mixer platform and is sure to see another shift in viewing figures.

Shroud is a massive presence on Twitch and helps to steer a big audience to whatever game he is playing.

The new Shroud Mixer Channel is live but isn’t currently live with content.

The first Shroud Stream on Mixer is going live later today in the United States and the early hours of Friday morning in the UK.

It has an official countdown timer set for 8pm PST, which is around 5am BST for those in the UK.

When the Ninja channel started on Mixer, the Twitch version quickly lost its Verified status and the same is expected for Shroud’s.

Mixer is a platform that is owned and controlled by Microsoft, while Twitch is part of the Amazon group.

“What began as a simple idea for how we could improve the streaming experience grew into a whole community of people coming together to make an impact on the world,” a message on the Mixer website reads.

“We started with the name Beam because we wanted to bring you the most cutting edge technology, and we did with our Faster Than Light latency.

“As Beam, we worked with our streamers to build an inclusive community and a pipeline that has changed the pace of the streaming spheres all around us. We’re proud of what we built together.”

Mixer’s growing brand is probably not in the same league as Twitch but recent data suggests it is on the upswing.

“Xbox Live now has 57 million monthly active users and Mixer usage growth is accelerating,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed during a company earnings call in October.

“This loyal, high-value community is our strongest asset, creating expanding opportunity for monetization of first- and third-party games.

“Fortnite is a good example of that, and all up, we are seeing record software and services revenue and engagement being driven on our platform.”
