Watch: Artist creates popcorn portraits of home nation heroes

Football fans will be able to watch the Euros on the big screen for free this summer thanks to Showcase Cinemas.

The UK cinema chain is offering free tickets to watch the England, Scotland and Wales games taking place at the 2020 European Championships at a number of its locations nationwide.

In order to enjoy the games on the cinema screen at their local Showcase, all fans have to do is book in advance.

Mark Barlow, UK General Manager, said: “We have certainly been made to wait for this tournament, so we’re excited to finally be able to make the most of it!

“We are proud to be able to offer fans the opportunity to come and watch the games at our cinemas and support their home nation.”

To celebrate the tournament and pay tribute to the players, Showcase teamed up with food artist Nathan Wyburn to create some artwork of each nation’s footballing hero.

The well-renowned artist has put together portraits of England captain Harry Kane, Welsh star Gareth Bale and Scotland skipper Andrew Robertson, created using only popcorn.

Nathan, who rose to fame following his appearance on Britain’s Got Talent in 2011, said: “Showcase Cinemas commissioned me to create a series of portraits to celebrate the upcoming Euros – and the nation’s favourite cinema snack – popcorn – made the perfect material to create these portraits.
