Shirley Ballas got a kiss from boyfriend Danny Taylor on Thursday’s Loose Women after insisting the BBC will deliver ‘the best show they can’ when Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year.

There are currently no plans to scrap the next series of Strictly, which demands close physical contact from celebrity contestants and professional dancers, despite ongoing social distancing measures put in place following the coronavirus outbreak.

And head judge Shirley, 59, believes it will be as good as ever when it does finally return to TV screens in September.

Appearing from home on Thursday’s edition of Loose Women, she said: ‘I’m positive they will give the best show they can. I can’t imagine the autumn without the glitz and the glamour.’

With the current health crisis presenting logistical nightmares for many shows over the coming months, Shirley agreed with the panel after it was suggested that the contestants move in with each other for its duration.

‘That could make things rather exciting if that were to happen!’ she added. ‘As long as the judges were allowed to move in too, we’ll be fine.’

Shirley is currently isolating at home with actor boyfriend Danny, and the 49-year old gave her a kiss on the lips as she discussed whether or not people are less intimate when they have been together for a long time.

Admitting they last ‘kissed and cuddled’ earlier that morning, she was encouraged to call Danny back onscreen – prompting him to lean in for another kiss from the Strictly judge.

The couple started dating in 2018, and having yet to announce an engagement Shirley remained coy when quizzed by Ruth Langsford about potential wedding plans.

‘He does the garden and the leaves, he’s very good,’ she said. ‘I don’t have to ask him to do anything. He does leave cupboard doors open, there’s one or two things but I don’t sweat the small stuff.

She added: ‘He just wants everything to go as smoothly as possible for me. He does his share.’
