Shetland village hotel on sale for £900,000

A Shetland village hotel with 2 AA Rosette-rated restaurant is on the market for £900,000.

Three-star Scalloway Hotel in Scalloway, six miles west of Lerwick, has 23 guest bedrooms, a 40 cover lounge bar and the restaurant catering for up to 40 guests.

It is 30 minutes’ drive from Sumburgh Airport and close to the 17the century Scalloway Castle and is being marketed as a base for visitors touring the island, which has had worldwide exposure on TV shows such as Shetland, shown on BBC and Netflix.

The Scalloway has been privately owned and operated since 2008 but the McKenzie family have decided to sell up and retire.

Stuart Drysdale, director at selling agent Christie & Co’s Edinburgh office, said: “The Scalloway Hotel is a true example of a quality, family owned and operated hotel, with emphasis placed on service and quality of stay.

“The owners are looking towards retirement and this well established business will be perfectly suited for an owner operator, with no requirement for any refurbishment or repair costs, as the property and public accommodation have been maintained to an excellent standard throughout.”

The Scalloway Hotel is on the market at an asking price of £900,000 for the freehold going concern.
