Sheridan Smith has reportedly had jewellery stolen after he trailer was broken into by thieves while she was filming.

The actress, 40, is said to be ‘very upset’ by the theft, with items believed to be worth several thousands of pounds being taken.

According to reports, Sheridan is thought to have been targeted by a gang of thieves nicknamed the Movie Takers, who are alleged to have committed a string of similar robberies.

Police were called on Thursday night to the set of Rosie Molloy Gives Up Everything in West London after Sheridan’s trailer was ransacked while she was filming for the Sky show.

An insider told The Sun: ‘This was a very upsetting incident and everyone involved is shocked — but Sheridan is understandably very hurt.

‘Fortunately, it wasn’t hugely expensive items, more day-to-day things, but she had left them in her trailer for safety while filming in character and came back to find the place had been turned over.’

The source added that similar incidents have happened on other sets, including a high-profile theft of expensive props from the set of Netflix’s royal drama, The Crown.

They added that the film and television industry is protected by security guards and people tend to know one another in the industry, so most people are recognised when on set, which means several incidents in quick succession is ‘very unusual’.

A spokesperson for the Met Police told the publication: ‘The offence happened at about 11.50pm on May 5.
