Sheffield United star John Fleck makes transfer vow following Arsenal link

Sheffield United ace Jon Fleck said there was ‘no chance’ of him leaving in the January transfer window amid reported interest from Arsenal.

The 28-year-old midfielder has been hugely influential for this season, scoring five goals and providing two assists to help keep the Blades in contention for a Europa League spot.

Fleck’s consistent performances have caught the eye of some of the Premier League’s big boys – including Arsenal, who were reported to be contemplating a £20million move for the Scotland international.

But in a video shared on Sheffield United’s Twitter page, Fleck was asked if he was on the verge of leaving the club, and replied: “No chance.”

The news came as a huge relief for Blades fans, with one supporter, known as TravellingBlade, tweeting: “This is like announcing a new signing for me after how worried I was this morning.”

Arsenal signed Spanish defender Pablo Mari from Flamengo on a loan deal until the end of the season on Wednesday, with the 26-year-old becoming the first signing of the Mikel Arteta era.

The Gunners are said to be close to sealing a deal for Southampton right back Cedric Soares, and after the Saints signed Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker Peters on loan that now looks even more likely.

Soares looks set to move to the Emirates on a loan deal, and when asked about the likelihood of a move his manager Ralph Hasenhuttl said: “From our side, yes. The fact is he’s out of contract in the summer. Sometimes things change quickly in football.”

The future of Dani Ceballos is still uncertain, with mixed messages over whether he will cut short his loan move at the Emirates and go back to Real Madrid or not.

He was linked with both Valencia or Real Betis, but recent reports suggest he has changed his mind about leaving, and could be willing to fight for a place in the starting lineup.
