Sharon Tate’s sister Debra has said that she loved Margot Robbie’s performance in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and wants her to play her in a biopic.

The movie, which is set in 1960s Hollywood, is set to feature a portrayal of Sharon, an actress who was murdered by members of the Manson family when she was pregnant back in 1969.

She added that director Quentin Tarantino stood by all of his promises after she voiced her concerns.

Debra, who previously had her worries about Sharon being portrayed in the movie, has said that Margot’s performance felt like she was visiting her sister, according to TMZ.

‘I wasn’t disappointed,’ she told the site.

Speaking about Tarantino, she added: ‘It’s the first time ever that I haven’t been lied to or tricked or not given any consideration whatsoever [about Sharon’s portrayal].’

The site reports that Debra said it never felt exploitative, and that she hopes the film will remind people of the Manson family’s horrific crimes.

Debra’s comments come just days after Tarantino admitted that writing Sharon into the movie could be in ‘bad taste’.

He told Time: ‘I thought hard about it. You can try it, and maybe you won’t pull it off. Maybe it falls into bad taste, it seems ugly, opportunistic.

‘I was aware of all those things. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t want to try. I knew that if I was going to do this, I had to earn the right to do it at some point in the material.

‘So I risked going for it. And when I did it on the page, I thought I did pull it off. If I’d tried it and wasn’t able to pull it off, then I wouldn’t have made the movie.’

Meanwhile, Margot has spoken out about how important honouring Sharon’s memory was to her.

She told PEOPLE: ‘It was immensely important for me to honor Sharon’s generous spirit.

‘I felt an enormous sense of responsibility. She really was such a beautiful character to play.’

She admitted that she prepared for the role by talking to Tate’s family and friends – including Debra.

‘They all said how kind, loving, and good-hearted she was,’ the 28-year-old said. ‘I was fortunate enough to step on to set with Debra Tate’s blessing, Sharon’s sister.’
