Sharon Osbourne claims Cowell gave her the X Factor boot as he thought she was 'too old'

The outspoken music manager has said the SYCO boss only decided to axe her from The X Factor last year due to her age.

Speaking on US show The Talk, Sharon, 66, said: “I turned down being a judge on the Masked Singer.

“I was signed on to do another show [ITV’s The X Factor] at the time.

“I was signed to go to England, and then Simon Cowell changed his mind and thought I was too old.

“I was under contract and couldn’t do it.”

Pulling no punches, Sharon added: “Simon goes, ‘She’s old. We need somebody young.’

“So if you want young, fire yourself!”

Sharon was joined the hit ITV show in 2004 before enjoying three years on the panel.

After taking a six-year break, the kooky star was invited back in 2013, 2016 and finally in 2017.

When Simon revamped the show for 2018, Sharon wasn’t the only judge getting the axe.

Veteran panellist Louis Walsh, 66, was also given the boot before being replaced by One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, 27.

A rep for Simon Cowell has been contacted by Daily Star Online for comment.
