The Voice UK has confirmed that it’s welcoming some music superstars to its panel as special guest mentors for its knockout round.

Country superstar Shania Twain, Ellie Goulding, Ella Eyre and Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson are joining the show to help Sir Tom Jones, Olly Murs, Meghan Trainor and will.i.am to help make some very important decisions.

Each of the coaches will need to whittle down their acts for the upcoming semi-finals.

Only two acts from each superstar can make it through the live finals – this means a massive cull of talent as 16 contestants will have to be axed over two tense Knockout shows.

However, one lucky act can be saved by the public’s Lifeline vote – the first time so far in the competition that viewers can truly have their say and back their favourite.

As it stands, Olly, Meghan, Tom and will.i.am each have six acts each in their teams.

Like we said, there are some tough decisions ahead and hopefully Shania, Ella, Jesy and Ellie can help lighten the load.

And also maybe give us a sing-a-long too, these ladies have all been responsible for some massive bops.

Tonight also saw contestant Lara George battle for a place in the knockout rounds – she revealed to Metro.co.uk that despite performing for childhood friend Olly, her late grandmother ‘predicted’ she would audition for the programme.

‘I said this when I went to the audition that a couple of years ago my nan had a premonition,’ she began.

‘They didn’t show any of this on TV but she had a premonition that I got through to the judges in the blind auditions and so she said to me, “Lara go for it” and I did.’

Sadly, however, Lara didn’t end up being chosen to go forward in the competition.

Also tonight, viewers saw the Dance With Me Tonight hitmaker give some heartwrenching advice to twin contestants, clearly referencing his long-standing estrangement from his own twin brother, Ben.

The Voice UK continues next Saturday at 8.30pm on ITV1.
