Shane Dawson told Jeffree Star to ‘spit on his face’ after the two came to a head following disagreements over the concept of their collaborative cosmetics collection.
The YouTubers and long-time friends are set to release their first eyeshadow palette together, The Conspiracy Collection, as part of Jeffree’s successful Jeffree Star Cosmetics line, but it wasn’t long until the two found themselves in a bit of a heated debate over the design concept for the collection’s eyeshadow palette.
In Shane’s YouTube video, titled The Failure Of Jeffree Star And Shane Dawson, the 31–year-old was shown several prototypes for the potential palette, which he did not like the design of.
Jeffree later admitted he did not like any of the prototypes either, telling his friend: ‘I like how we’re changing ideas right now, it’s awesome.
‘I didn’t like them either. I was waiting for your response then I was going to tell you I hated it.’
And as Shane tells the makeup mogul that they should have opted for a triangular design for the palette, Jeffree admits he was ‘shocked’ that he originally chose a rectangular design – which the two agreed would not help to sell the palette.
‘When you picked this, I was actually a little shocked, weeks ago,’ Jeffree went on to say.
‘I thought it should be something crazier, but I don’t want to push.’
To which Shane replied: ‘Oh, push me off a f*****g cliff. Literally, we know each other so well now, you can be like, “that’s bad.”’
Later on, we see Jeffree looking pretty stressed as he admits he wish he had spoken up earlier about the design of the pyramid box, as he stated they were down to ‘the f*****g wire’.
He said: ‘I’m like mad because I should have pushed for the pyramid earlier. I’m just glad it’s not, like, too late and we have to sell something we don’t wanna do, I’d rather just not do it and push it.’
However, Shane didn’t have the nicest thing to say back, as things got heated around the 40-minute mark.
‘Literally, next time spit in my face,’ he replied. ‘Just say, “You’re stupid.”’
However, tensions between the two eventually cooled down as we could later see them laughing and joking among each other, as Jeffree apologises to Shane, saying: ‘I’ll never hesitate again, sir.’
All in all, the duo was able to come to a resolution, and as well as an eyeshadow palette – the mini ‘Controversy’ palette and lipstick box set also got approved, with fans being given a sneak peak of the final designs with the custom logos stamped onto them.
And the two revealed toward the end of the video that they agreed on a final palette design they are both proud of – and it is set to be revealed in Shane’s next YouTube video.
