Shamima Begum latest: Priti Patel says there’s ‘no way’ ISIS bride can return to UK

Home Secretary Priti Patel has said there’s ‘no way’ Shamima Begum will be allowed back into the UK.

The 19-year-old travelled from London to Syria to join ISIS in 2015.

She was stripped of her UK citizenship by the then Home Secretary Sajid Javid earlier this year.

Despite pleading to be allowed to return to Britain for therapy, Ms Patel today said that there was ‘no way’ Ms Begum will not be allowed back into the country.

She told The Sun on Sunday: “Our job is to keep our country safe. We don’t need people who have done harm and left our country to be part of a death cult and to perpetrate that ideology.

“We cannot have people who would do us harm allowed to enter our country – and that includes this woman.

“Everything I see in terms of security and intelligence, I am simply not willing to allow anybody who has been an active supporters or campaigners for IS in this country.”

Ms Patel added that it was “quite reassuring” that the teenager was still in Syria.

Ms Begum, who is from Bethnal Green in east London, married Yago Riedijk after joining the terrorist organisation.

She had three children while with the caliphate, all of whom later died – the latest being this year.

Speaking in an interview last week, Ms Begum said she now “hates” ISIS and all she ever did was “make babies”.

But Ms Patel said: “I don’t intend to let people like this inside our country.”

When Ms Begum was stripped of her passport, it was claimed that she would be able to claim Bangladeshi citizenship through her family.

But the southeast Asian country has refused to take her.
